Estate Planning

The firm has a comprehensive estate planning practice.  Our members maintain close contacts with a nationwide network of noted estate planning innovators, leaders and specialists, and we participate regularly in continuing education seminars.  We cover all aspects of estate planning, asset protection, and wealth preservation, and we provide cutting edge solutions in order to fulfill our clients' goals and objectives.

Probate Administration

We have decades of experience in probate administration and we assist the families of past clients and new clients in all aspects of estate administration.  This includes careful attention to post-death tax planning and coordinating and updating the estate plans of other family members.

For many of our clients the comprehensive estate planning approach we favor minimizes the need for probate administration and in some cases obviates it completely.  We provide all of our estate planning clients a with a "road map" which can be shared at any time with family and other loved ones.  This document provides a check-list on how to proceed following the death of a loved one and hopefully takes away some of the frustration and grief that can come to families during estate administration.

Small Businesses and Wealthy Individuals

We provide advanced estate and tax planning to reduce taxes and preserve assets through vehicles such as life insurance trusts, family limited partnerships, grantor trusts and grantor retained annuity trusts.  We help plan for significant events such as the sale of a closely-held business or the transition of ownership to the next generation.   We work with businesses to design personalized employee retirement and pension plans to retain and reward key employees while minimizing taxes for the organization.

Special Needs Planning
We are the South Alabama member of the Special Needs Alliance, a nationwide network of disability attorneys.  We are experienced in protecting the public benefits of persons with special needs and in assisting with the management of their assets.  We assist personal injury attorneys in enhancing the judgments and awards of their disabled clients by allowing them to maintain SSI and Medicaid eligibility.  For more information about the Special Needs Alliance, visit its website at

Elder Law
Our elder law practice meets the needs of 21st century seniors.  Some of these needs include the need for advance or emergency medicaid planning, planning for supplemental and long-term health insurance issues, disability planning, and planning for incapacity.
